16	I am Vera Miller, author of "In Search of a Childhood Song,"  which I have written about my German mother's 1946 escape from communist Silesia to West Germany. The borders were changed in 1945 as per the agreement made at the Yalta Conference. Silesia was part of the border change from Germany to Poland. My mother escaped with a friend at age 19 with the help of a Catholic priest from her church.   The book includes the modern day unraveling of the story from my mother and other living relatives followed by their experiences mostly from the 1940's to the 1960's in Poland, Germany and the United States. 23	Wecker Forum: Common interest discussion forum serving the German-American Community in the Baltimore-Washington corridor (including Northern Virginia and Southern Pennsylvania). Site also includes links to the German-American Organizations in Maryland (The DEUTSCHAMERIKANISCHER BÜRGERVEREIN von MARYLAND) which is an "umbrella" association consisting of twelve German-American organizations within the State of Maryland.  The "Bürgerverein" represents the German ethnic community and is the spokesman of it and its members on a city, state and national level.
