I am Vera Miller, author of "In Search of a
Childhood Song," which I have written about my German mother's 1946
escape from communist Silesia to West Germany. The borders were changed
in 1945 as per the agreement made at the Yalta Conference. Silesia was
part of the border change from Germany to Poland. My mother escaped with
a friend at age 19 with the help of a Catholic priest from her church.
The book includes the modern day unraveling of the
story from my mother and other living relatives followed by their
experiences mostly from the 1940's to the 1960's in Poland, Germany and
the United States. My parents immigrated to Milwaukee, WI in 1952.
I am seeking the audience that would be interested
in this book. Information on the book, including the first chapter and

While treating the subject with the seriousness it
deserves, the book is oftentimes light and humorous as it is courage and
humor that has gotten this family through these difficult challenges.
